Christmas Traditions In The New Orleans Creole??? Please Help!?

Okay. I’m trying to do a report on Christmas Traditions in the New Orleans Creole. I’ve gotten VERY little information. I need enough to write a 1-2 page report, have an activity to engage a class in and have a food (which should be easy Cajun)
but I need help. Any info on the Christmas Traditions?
Present time and past…past is especially needed for any traditions that may have changed.
Help greatly appreciated.

Any Good Cajun Food In New Orleans, La?

Don’t listen to the goof balls that say no. Lots of places. One of my favorites is a place called Liuzza’s. Its a combo barroom, restaurant. There’s one in Mid-city, 3636 Bienville St., from downtown go down Canal Blvd. and off Jefferson Davis Pkwy, take a left on Bienville. It’s across from Mercy Hospital. Great shrimp and oyster boats, frosted root beer mugs and great crayfish dishes. Like mama used to make.
There’s another Liuzza’s (I think different owner and everything) but I’ve eaten at it. Its on 1518 N. Lopez and it is a small corner barroom with tables but great red beans and rice and gumbo and just about anything else they serve is good. I ended up eating at the bar because tables are at a premium. Its in the Esplanade neighborhood and its real hard to park because its all street parking in a neighborhood so go there early for lunch. Frommer’s had a write up on them too and liked it. So much like home cooking from the River Road. But shusssh! Don’t tell anybody else cause we don’t want it to get so bad we can’t ever get in there anymore.
There’s lots of places in town to eat that aren’t chains. The Gumbo Shop is great and don’t forget to get your coffee and beignets at cafe du monde where you better cover up or you and the kids end up with powdered sugar on everything!!
There is also Mother’s for great poyboys for good prices and that’s down near the foot of canal street closer to the river at 401 poydras street.
These are the less expensive options. There are plenty of well-touted cajun restaurants in the City but beware of those that cater to tourist because they charge big bucks for not so genuine food.
