I want to find a real backwater cajun or creole place in the swamp to eat that has authentic excellent food, could be anywhere in Louisiana, price isn’t important the food and experience is.
Any suggestions?
thanks so much

Restaurant des Familles down in Lafitte (about 30 minutes south of New Orleans) has some very good authentic cajun food, and sits next to a swamp. The main dining room has lots of window views overlooking the swamp, and you can sometimes see alligators and other random wildlife. I’m going back home to Louisiana to visit in December, and this is one of the places I’m going to. It’s got a really cool atmosphere with excellent food, you won’t be disappointed.

i would highly suggest john folses restaurant http://www.jfolse.com/lafittes/index.htm
chef john folse wrote the cookbook: encyclopedia of cajun and creole food.
also:http://www.gumbopages.com/acadiana/cajun… (this website has awesome restaurants listing! also has great ones for new orleans)
    Creole’s Lunch House, 713 12th Street, Lafayette
The Pig Stand, 318 E. Main Street, Ville Platte
Le Rosier, across from Shadows-On-The-Têche, New Iberia
Also, my favorite cajun in new orleans ishttp://www.jacquesimoscafe.com/
also this palce is pretty popular: Prop Stop on the Tickfaw River ..
crawfish is out of season but the best place to go for crawfish is breaux bridge during the season. i would even suggest going to the crawfish festival
    enjoy
