I’m sorry I can’t help you – but I do know where you’re coming from. I was born and raised in New Orleans but now live in California. I went home for a few days a couple of weeks ago and loaded up on things I can’t get out here (homestyle tamales, andouille sausage, crawfish, gumbo mix, etc).
I know it’s not the same, but if you get french bread from your local supermarket, you can re-create your own sandwiches and they can be pretty close to homestyle.

I would try Acadiana Cafe on Southwest Loop 410. Their web address is http://www.acadianacafe.com They have lots of seafood, gumbo, jambalaya, greens, red beans and rice, a lot of crawfish specialties like etoufee, etc. It’s a locally owned restaurant, NOT a fast food chain, and you will find it more authentic, and more reasonably priced than Pappadeaux. (Although Pappadeaux usually has Crawfest around this time in April.) Enjoy!
