I found a recipe for Fried Pickles, my favorite things, and i want to make a huge vegan meal for my friends and I. Any other suggestions? We’re huge fans of Indian and Cajun foods (since we are from the south)

Indian is very good if you want Vegan meals. Try Allrecipes.com. I get a lot of great meals from them and you can preview the recipe to see if it meets your dietary needs. You can use corn oil to fry your pickles, but peanut oil gets hotter faster and maintains a better heat control.

You will need to start with vegan pickles. I have not seen these in stores so you may have to make them.
Regular pickles are most likely not vegan as most pickles also contain a lot of sugar and unless if is sugar in the raw, then it is not vegan.
Then make a seasoned flour usuing unbleached flour, and fry in vaggie, canola or any kind of oil other than shortening made from animal fats.
***Regular sugar is Not vegan. It is because of the way it is bleached using animal bones or something like that. Ask in Vegan/Vegetarian they will tell you that die hard vegans do not use regular white sugar.
I am not vegan but I have looked into it some for my parents who are semi-vegan for medical reasons.

Pickles are vegan, don’t listen to the last poster. Sugar is vegan as well. As long as the batter doesn’t have egg or milk in it it is vegan. Enjoy! Just use flour as it is vegan. Fry with vegetable oil in a wok.
Ok, do some research…no pickles have animal bones!!!
I don’t understand how you can eat anything at all if you try to live in fear of EVERYTHING!

Am guessing a good recipe for fried pickles is fry a pickle. Since when did a pickle contain meat?
